If you wish to 

Lifeguards

The primary responsibility of the Lifeguard staff is to be the safeguard of all members and guests at NHSC. You are tasked with upholding and enforcing all rules applicable to the pool, deck and grounds to maintain order and prevent accidents in and out of the water.  If required you will rescue swimmers in distress, administer first aid and lifesaving measures as needed.  Lifeguards are also involved in guarding swim team practices/meets and providing swim lessons during the season.  Most swim team practices and swim lessons take place prior to open membership hours, while some evening hours will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age: 15 years old at time of application

  • Completion of application and interview (DRD interview prep)

  • Completion of DRD's training or current/active certification via Red Cross, YMCA, or Ellis&Assoc

    • Training Prerequisites:​

      • Swim 100 yards continuously using the front crawl (freestyle), breaststroke or a combination of both.

      • Tread water for one minute without using your arms.

      • Perform a feet-first surface dive to retrieve a 10-pound brick from the depth at which you will be certified and return to surface

  • Reliable transportation to and from work

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Be attentive, and use learned prevention strategies to provide a safe swim environment by upholding and enforcing all NHSC & DRD rules and regulations

  • Apply basic first aid for members, guests and staff

  • Interacting with NHSC members, guests, and other staff professionally and courteously.

  • Familiarize themselves with NHSC policies and procedures and be able to clearly and effectively communicate to members and guests

  • Arriving to work on time and dressed appropriately in designated DRD uniform including required pack, whistle and towel.

  • Adhere to cleaning procedures of NHSC pool, deck, bathrooms, pavilions and grounds, including the parking lot.

Check-In Staff

The primary responsibility of the Check-In Staff is to be present at the check-in window of the NHSC main office to assist members and guests upon arrival. Utilizing a community member in this position provides the opportunity for  The Check-In Staff will familiarize themselves with NHSC members in an attempt to provide friendly, courteous service and prevent unauthorized entry of underage/unaccompanied members or non-members and improper guest pass usage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age: 15 years old

  • Computer proficiency [specific software training will be provided]

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Interacting with NHSC members, guests, and other staff professionally and courteously.

  • Check-in members and guests in a timely manner

  • Assisting members with adding funds to account balances, purchasing and utilizing guest passes or replacement swim bands

  • Answering Swim Club phone, taking and delivering messages to appropriate personnel.

  • Familiarizing themselves with NHSC policies and procedures and be able to communicate with members and guests

  • Maintaining a tidy workspace

  • Arriving to work on time and dressed appropriately in designated NHSC uniform

The DIVE Staff

The primary responsibility of staff in The DIVE is to provide food and beverage services to NHSC members and guests in a timely and professional manner.  You will be tasked with taking orders; completing purchases; and preparing and serving food and drinks while maintaining a clean and tidy workspace. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age: 14 years old

  • Computer proficiency [specific software training will be provided]

  • Reliable transportation to and from work

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Interacting with NHSC members, guests,  and other staff professionally and courteously

  • Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment under the pressure of multiple orders and waiting patrons

  • Following opening and closing procedures

  • Properly clean The DIVE area, equipment, utensils, and connected pavilion area

  • Communicating with staff and management in a professional and timely manner

  • Standing for most if not all of the scheduled shifts

  • Arriving to work on time and dressed appropriately in the designated NHSC uniform
